Irene V. Pecsi, 85, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, in Saint Joseph's Re-gional Medial Center. Mrs. Pecsi was born on Oct. 5, 1913, in South Bend, to Stanislaus and Maryjanna Dombkowski, and was a lifelong resident. She was preceded in death by her parents and by four brothers. She retired after 10 years of service with the Uniroyal Company in Mishawaka, Ind. She was also previously employed with Wilson Brothers in South Bend. On June 5, 1933, in South Bend, as Irene V. Dombkowski, she married Michael J. Pecsi, who survives. She is also survived by her two daughters, Patricia A. (Michael) Darnell of Jackson, Mich., and Darlene A. (David) Drake of Kenosha, Wis.; her two sons, Michael S. (Mary Alice) Pecsi of Milwaukee, Wis., and Ronald J. (Mary Kay) Pecsi of South Bend; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Virginia (Joseph) Stanis of Franklin, Wis. Mrs. Pecsi was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig Church, South Bend Democratic Club and the William Penn Club. She loved gardening, crocheting, and her grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 4, in Holy Cross Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
