Jan Pecina, 76, of South Phillipa Street,
South Bend, Ind., died suddenly at 12:18 pm. on Friday, Dec. 3,
in Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sept. 7, 1923, in Poland,
and had lived in this area since 1951, coming from Germany. Mr.
Pecina retired from the National Lead Company in 1978. He was a
member of the Polish National Alliance Lodge #83.
On Sept. 24, 1946, in Germany, he married
Maria Szydlik, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter,
Theresa (Mike) Mizanin of Lansing, Ill.; 10 grandchildren,
Jonathon Pecina of Mishawaka, Julie Kinney, Robin Willoughby,
Tracey Pecina and Tony Pecina, all of Michigan City, Ind.,
Michael Mizanin, Jr., of Chicago, Ill., Matthew Mizanin of Lake
Zurich, Ill., and Marcus, Lucas and Angela Mizanin, all of
Lansing, Mich.; three great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Ted
Pecina of South Bend. Mr. Pecina was preceded in death by two
sons, Vince Pecina, who died on June 19, 1980, and Stanley
Pecina, who died on May 17, 1994.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.
today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
where a Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Services will be held at
11:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church where he was
a member. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
