SOUTH BEND -
Eugene Pinky Pauwels, 93, of South Bend, formerly of
Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on July 31st in St
Pauls Retirement Community.
Pinky was born on
March 17, 1914, in South Bend, as the son of Jacob and Mary
(Aerts) Pauwels. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
sister, Erma Smith; and a brother, Maurice Pauwels. On June
15, 1940, in St Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married the
former Margaret Waelbroeck, who also preceded him in death on
February 13, 2003. Surviving Pinky are a daughter, Sylvia
(Jerry) Hale of Hubbard Lake MI; a son, Thomas (Judy) Pauwels of
Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Jennifer Pauwels, Melissa Pauwels
and Julia Provey; and five great-grandchildren.
Pinky worked as a
draftsman at Studebaker in South Bend, Wagner Steel in Mishawaka
and Mishawaka Steel Fabricating. He was a life member of
the BK Club, Mishawaka, a member of the Eagles Aerie #2083, South
Bend Moose and BK Bollers Wednesday League.
Visitation will
be held from 3 to 7pm today, Thursday, August 2, in the Hahn
Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, August
3, in St Bavo Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England
officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
memory of Pinky may be made to St Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th
Street, Mishawaka IN 46544.
