MISHAWAKA - Robert A. Patterson, 80, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Robert was born September 17, 1929, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Robert married Virginian VanderKooy in 1958. She preceded him in death, passing away in 1968. Surviving is his son, Michael (Brenda) Patterson of Osceola. He was preceded in death by a brother and two half sisters. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where VFW Post 360 of Mishawaka will perform military rites. Robert served his country during the Korean War as a United States Marine, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed by the Uniroyal Corporation for many years until his retirement in 1992. Robert was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 360 in Mishawaka.
