Bernice S. Paskiet, 88, who had resided at 1950 Ridgedale Road, formerly of Rogers Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Bernice was born on Aug. 25, 1912, in South Bend, as the daughter of John and Michlena Sikorski, and had been a lifelong resident of this community. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a daughter, Dolores B. Buckland, who passed away on Sept. 21, 1999. She retired from the Gerber Manufacturing Company in Mishawaka, and was previously employed with H.D. Lee & Company in South Bend. She was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Apostleship of Prayer and the Harvest House, both of the church. Bernice is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and James Gordon of Beecher, Ill.; a granddaughter, Kimberly (Sam) Kirk of Pottstown, Pa.; two great-grandsons, Christopher and James Kirk of Pottstown; and by a son-in-law, Melvin Backland of South Bend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Ronald D. Tripi, C.S.C., associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.
