SOUTH BEND - Ulues Parker, 71, of South Bend, Indiana, a beloved
husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, departed
this life on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Memorial Hospital
surrounded by his family and friends. Ulues was born in Hennings,
TN, on September 20, 1938, to the union of the late James and
Elizabeth Parker. He moved to South Bend, IN, in October 1953 and
attended Central High School. He met the love of his life and
later married Delores Hall in 1957. Ulues retired as a
superintendent from the South Bend Water Works after 32 years of
dedicated service. He and his brother Esaw later worked together
at Davenport College as maintenance engineers. At the time of his
death, Ulues was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist
Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricardo Taylor. He was
well-known as the family fix-it man, a mentor to many, and
enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family. In
addition to his beloved wife, Delores of 51 years, Ulues leaves
to forever cherish his memory his three daughters, Wanda (John)
Richardson of Nashville, TN, Marsha Perry and Umika Parker
(Curtis) of South Bend, IN; and son-in-law, Willie Perry; his
loving five grandchildren, Jamal, Jordan, Brianna, Brittany and
Kennedy. Ulues is also survived by four sisters, Dora Morrow and
Betty Spears of Springfield, MA, Alice (Jimmy) Russell of
Woodbridge, VA, and Ruth (Gatson) Mincy of South Bend, IN. One
brother, Esaw (Lee) Parker of South Bend, IN; three
sisters-in-law, Wauline Parker, Edna Kinsey, Marlene Freeman; and
three brothers-in-law, Emanuel Hall, Edison Rodgers and Cass
Galliday. He also leaves to cherish a host of nephews, nieces,
cousins and friends. Ulues Parker was a true inspiration to all
who knew and loved him. He will be forever missed. Ulues was
preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Rueben
Parker, sister, Louise Bates, and grandson, Kendall. Funeral
services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in Mount
Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at noon. Viewing will be held
from 11 a.m. - noon Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark
O'Neal Funeral Home.
