Robert E. Parker, 69, of Chamberlin Drive, South Bend, Ind., died on Sunday, March 7, in his residence. Robert was born in South Bend on Dec. 10, 1929, to Hurley and Blanche Parker.
In Cassopolis, Mich., on Dec. 7, 1952, Robert married the former Marian J. High, who died in 1985. Robert is survived by his mother, Blanche Cukrowicz of South Bend; a daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Parent of Danby, Vt.; three sons, Kevin (Kim) Parker of South Bend, Greg (Susan) Parker of Osceola, Ind., and James (Kelly) Parker of Waukesha, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Scott, Laura, Shannon, Ashley, Collen, Bridget, Conor, Erich, Ellen and Molly; and by a sister, Kay (Larry) Dennert of Osceola. Robert was a purchasing agent and senior buyer for the Bendix Corporation for many years, retiring in 1990. Robert was an Army veteran, and was a dance instructor at the Forever Learning Institute where he taught Ballroom, Country Couple and Country Line Dance. Robert was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, American Legion Post 0026, Niles, and the Bendix Management Club.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
