Carl E. Parker
Carl Eugene Parker, 64, of Normandy Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a sudden illness on Monday, May 5, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.
Carl was born on April 10, 1939, in South Bend, as the son of the late Raymond and Madlyne (Moorehouse) Parker.
On Aug. 31, 1963, in Mishawaka, in the First United Methodist Church, he married the former Karen Weisweaver. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen; a daughter, Peggy (Kevin) West of Osceola, Ind.; a son, Todd (Jennifer) Parker of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lindsey, Robert Lindsey and Adam "Snoozer" Parker; five brothers, Kenneth, Daniel, Michael, James and Robert, all of Florida; a sister-in-law, Tony Rayl of Mishawaka; a brother-in-law, Robert Rayl of Mishawaka; and by his father-in-law, "Bub" Weisweaver of Niles, Mich.
Carl was a truck driver for Overland Carriers for 30 years. He was a member of Club 15, Mishawaka, and the former Blue Lantern Club. Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served upon the USS Yorktown. Carl had a very close and unique kinship with his shipmates, and he never forgot any of them. He loved spending time with his grandchildren; they were his reason for living. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him, for he brought joy and laughter into every life he touched.
Friends may call Thursday, May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Villalba of Granger Community Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 360 Burial Squad.
