Nellie A. Paluzzi, 85, of McKinley Hwy, Osceola, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Nellie was born on Feb. 24, 1920, in South Bend, to Joseph and Anna Buttner. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Joseph Jr., Nicholas and Patrick; and by a son-in-law, Jerald Lisenko.
On Aug. 1, 1941, in Mishawaka, as the former Nellie Buttner, she married Joseph C. Paluzzi, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1971. She is survived by three daughters, Angela Paluzzi of Mishawaka, Janet (Robert) Kelsey of Elkhart and Beth Lisenko of Osceola; three sons, Mark (Yolanda) Paluzzi of Las Vegas, Chris (Lee Ann) Paluzzi of Osceola and Geoff (Beverly) Paluzzi of Mishawaka; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kim Paluzzi of South Bend; a sister, Lillian Stoddard, and her daughter, Janet Whalen of California, who called her "Aunt Noni"; and her dog, Princess.
Nellie was a nursing assistant at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed playing bingo and slots, and crocheting. She most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, they brought so much joy and love to her life.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to the ER staff of the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, for all of their care and kindness.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 22, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the funeral home.
