Mrs. Zelda Abigail Palmiter, 84, of
South Bend, Ind., passed away from natural causes on Friday, Jan.
21, in Fountain View Place, Mishawaka, Ind. Zelda was born on
Sept. 8, 1915, in North Liberty, Ind., to Dollie and Kyle Milliken.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her five
siblings, Bernice Howell, Marvel Kline, Frank
Milliken, Clinton Milliken and Lyndon Milliken. As a youth, Zelda
worked for the South Bend Country Club in the 1920s and '30s. She
then worked for the Bendix Corporation until marrying in the
1930s. She spent the next 62 years as a homemaker, caring for
what she treasured most - a husband, daughter, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Zelda married Ivel Palmiter on Oct. 1, 1938.
He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1992. She is survived by a
daughter, Kay (Gilbert) Cipriano of South Bend; five
grandchildren, David, Douglas (Heidi Cuesta), Toni (James Steffens),
Neil and Dulene; and by three great-grandchildren, Zachary Simms,
Gabriela Cipriano and Peter Cipriano.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 27, in Welsheimer's Funeral Home, 521 N. William
Street, South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to p.m. today, Jan. 26, in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roseland
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 52248 Laurel Road, South
Bend, IN 46637.
