Elizabeth Jane (Ray) Palmer, 72, of
South Bend, Ind., died Monday, Jan. 14, in Saint Joseph Community
Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind. She was born on May 18, 1929, in Terre
Haute, Ind., to David Allen Ray Jr. and Ruth A. Irwin
Ray.
She is survived by a son, Robert Lee (JoAnn)
Palmer Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Phyliss A. (Carl) Mahoney
of South Bend; a sister, Nancy (Richard) Williams of Terre
Haute; a granddaughter, Laurie A. (Pat) Bickel of South
Bend; three grandsons, Samuel (Roxanne) Palmer and Micah Palmer,
both of Pensacola, and Jason Mahoney of South Bend; four
great-granddaughters, Aubrey, Caitlyn and Tayler Bickel, and
Mariah Mahoney, all of South Bend; a niece, Patricia Pine
of Sarasota, Fla.; a nephew, David Williams of Terre Haute; and
by an aunt and four cousins. She retired from the Indiana Bell
Telephone Company after 27 years of service. She was a member of
the Indiana Pioneers, and was a graduate of Wiley High School.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday,
Jan. 18, in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home. Burial will follow at
Highland Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. Friday until
service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
the Diabetic Association or to the Heart Fund.
