Elayne G. Palmer, 86 years old,
residing on South 26th Street in South Bend, passed away at 6:40
A.M. on Sunday, August 27, 2000 at the St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center in South Bend. Mrs. Palmer was born on August 17,
1914 in South Bend to the late Oscar H. and Alma M. (Pittman)
Heintzelman. She has been a lifetime resident of Lakeville
and South Bend.
On December 24, 1936 in South Bend, she
married Robert J. Palmer who preceded in death on October 10,
1988. Three brothers, Harry, Walter, and Howard Heintzelman, also
preceded in death. Mrs. Palmer was a homemaker and a member of
St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South bend. She formerly
attended Saint Mary of Nazareth Nursing School in Chicago, IL.
Survivors include one daughter, Gailann and
Robert Vaszari of Lakeville; one son, Kent R. and Dolores
Palmer of South Bend and seven grandchildren, K.R. (Elizabeth)
Palmer of South Bend, Kristi (Marty) Manuel of South Bend,
Kim (Craig) Ochs of North Liberty, Kerry (Lori) Palmer of
Lakeville, Jodeane (Tom Bogunia) Merrill of Lakeville,
Kevin (Kim) Vaszari of Wyatt, and Bob (Linda) Vaszari of Bourbon.
Fifteen great grandchildren and one brother, Clyde
"Polky" Heintzelman of South Bend also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M.
on Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Barry England, pastor of St.
Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, will officiate. Graveside
services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South
bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4- 7 P.M. on Tuesday
at the Palmer Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Elayne G.
Palmer may be donated to the Building Fund at St. Anthony de
Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson, South Bend, IN 46617
