Benjamin E. Palmer, 75, residing on
Roosevelt Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at his home at 2:10
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, after an extended illness. He retired in
1978 as an inspector for Wheelhorse Products of South Bend. Mr.
Palmer was born on Aug. 16, 1921, in South Bend to the late
Phillip and Mildred (Blow) Palmer, and was a lifelong area
resident. He was a member of the American Legion Post 363,
Lakeville, and was a World War II Army veteran.
On March 13, 1948, in South Bend, he married
Norma Y. Brown, who survives. He is also survived by two
daughters, Constance McCain of Niles, Mich., and Barbara Martinez
of San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Don Palmer of Lakeville, Ind.,
Doug Palmer and Dennie Palmer, both of South Bend; 11
grandchildren; and one sister, Dolores Carter of Marion, Ohio.
Funeral services for Mr. Palmer will be held
at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S.
Michigan St., Lakeville, with the Rev. David Cross officiating.
Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may
call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of St. Joseph
County, Inc.
