Carrie B. Palka, 88, of West Poland
Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 10:53 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6,
in Hospice House. She was born on Dec. 30, 1910, in South Bend,
and was a lifelong area resident. She was an employee of the
former Enro Shirt Factory and retired in 1961 from the University
of Notre Dame.
On June 12, 1937, as Carrie Przestwor,
she married Howard Palka, who preceded her in death on April 23,
1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister,
Gladys Przestwor; and by two brothers, Leo Przestwor and Frank
Przestwor. She is survived by a sister, Joan Przestwor of South
Bend. Mrs. Palka was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church,
the Harvest House of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and the Polish
Roman Catholic Union.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m.
on Thursday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Services will be at
10 a.m. on Friday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be
in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
the Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court,
South Bend, IN 46637.
