Sherman Paige, 82, of 515 E. Monroe,
passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, at home. He was born to the
union of Mr. Joseph and Pearl Paige El on Sept. 3, 1919, in
Indianola, Miss. A lifetime resident of South Bend, Ind., since
1922, he had attended Laurel and Oliver Schools. In 1943 he
joined the Armed Forces of the United States, and in 1943 he
married Miss Ruby Walker. He retired from Phend and Brown
after many years of dutiful employment.
He leaves to cherish his memory two
brothers, Mr. Milton (Christine) Paige of South Bend and Robert
(Debarah) Paige El of Richmond, Va.; a very special friend, Mr.
Harry Williams of South Bend; his niece and caregiver, Ms.
Barbara Williams of South Bend; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and many friends, all of whom will miss him. He will not
be forgotten by his great-great-great-niece, Unique Monya-Nicole
Bobbitt, who has been with him since her birth and his passing.
He was preceded in death by a host of brothers and sisters who
have received him into the house of the Lord.
Services for Mr. Sherman Paige will be held
on Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 1032 W.
Washington Street, South Bend. Visitation time will begin at
noon. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Burial will follow
funeral services at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Ind. The
Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral
arrangement.
