Harriett (Reback) Packer, 99, of Chesterfield County, Va., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died on Sunday, March 1, in the Brandermill Woods Health Care Center, Chesterfield County. She was born on Sept. 21, 1898, in South Bend, and lived away from South Bend since 1960.

In 1917, in South Bend, she married John Reback, who died in 1955. She then married William Henry in Baltimore in 1959, and he died in 1969. In 1971 she married Louis Packer, who also preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Costa of Chester, Va.; a son, Victor R. Reback of Orange, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Esther Jasicki of South Bend. Mrs. Packer and her late husband John operated and owned the Royal Blue Grocery Store on Dubail Street in South Bend until 1955. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. Matthew Cathedral, with Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
