Mrs. Florence Owsley, 76, cherished
wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who resided on Georgiana
Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:24 a.m. Monday, Sept.
17, in the Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. On Sept. 12,
1925, in Mound City, Ill., Florence was born to the union of
William Edward and Virgie Mae (Penn) Adams.
Florence and Felix Owsley were united in
wedlock on Aug. 16, 1941, in Charleston, Mo., and to their union
of sixty years two sons were born, Felix L. Jr. and Alfonso R.
Coming from Mound City, they relocated to South Bend. During the
1980-81 conference year, Florence joined Olivet A.M.E. Church
under the pastorage of Reverend Clarence Robinson, where she was
a member of the Willing Workers, serving as vice president and
program chair. She loved her church and enjoyed the various
activities given.
Florence leaves to cherish her memories her
husband, Felix; two sons, Felix (Susan) Owsley Jr. and Alfonso
Owsley, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Brian, Craig and
Derek Owsley, and Maria (Brian) Harding; two
great-grandchildren, Spencer and Chloe Harding; two sisters,
Doris (Paul) Graham of South Bend and Mattie Robinson
of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, William E. (Marcella) Adams Jr. of
Waukegan, Ill.; a special cousin, George A. Penn of Gary,
Ind.; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Family
members who preceded her in death along with her parents were a
sister, Geraldine Adams; a brother, Charles E. Adams; and a
daughter-in-law, Catherine Owsley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Owsley will be
held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in Olivet A.M.E. Church, 719
North Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, with Reverend Basil Foley
officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services in
the church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Mortuary.
