Robert Owens

July 6, 1916 - July 20, 1996

Mr. Robert Owens, 80, of 621 E. Haney St., South Bend, passed away at 11:09 a.m., Saturday, July 20, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of Mishawaka, following a traffic accident at Lin-colnway East and Beiger streets.

He was born on July 6, 1916, in Humboldt, Tenn., to the union of Bob and Hattie Owens.

On Feb. 25, 1972, he was united in wedlock to Willie B. Edwards. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 1992.

He leaves to mourn his loss, four daughters, Fannie Mae Smith, Erma Owens, Willie Mae Owens, and Robbie Sue Randolph, all of South Bend; four sons, Robert J. Owens, Jr., Louis T. Owens, Sammie L. Owens and Nathaniel Owens, all of South Bend; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.

Mr. Owens was a retired construction worker.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday in Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with burial following in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Alford's Mortuary, and an hour prior to the services on Thursday in the church.
