SOUTH BEND - Meda (Miller) Owens, 75, residing in South
Bend, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008, in
the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, IN. She was
born January 5, 1933, in Salyersville, KY, the daughter of Adam
and Rosa (Allen) Miller, and moved to the Knox area
in 1939 at the age of six, and had remained a lifelong resident
of northern Indiana. On April 10, 1953, in the First United
Methodist Church, Knox, IN, as Meda Miller, she was united in
marriage to Everett Owens. She is survived by her loving husband,
Everett of 55 years. Also surviving are a daughter and
son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Kent Blackman of Plymouth; a
son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kelley Owens of Fishers, IN;
three grandchildren, Jeremy, Jamie and Jessie Owens; and one
great-grandson, Carson. A sister, Jane Conley of
Mishawaka, and a brother, Junior Miller of Edwardsburg, MI,
survives Meda as well. She was preceded in death by her parents,
and by two sisters, Madelyn Personette and Frances
Personette. Mrs. Owens retired in 1970 from the Uniroyal
Corporation in Mishawaka where she was employed for 18 years.
Prior to that, she worked at the Shell Plant in Kingsbury. While
working at Uniroyal she was a member of the Uniroyal Bowling
League.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
