Thelma Otto, 85, of Grand Island, Fla., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, May 4, at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Fla. She was born in Bringhurst, Ind., on June 22, 1913. She married Henry Otto on Oct. 25, 1942. He retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1973, and died on July 24, 1978. She retired in 1973 from Nyloncraft, Inc., Mishawaka, Ind.
She was the first PTA president of Pierre Navarre, PTA president at Washington High School, was president of the American Field Service for foreign exchange students at Washington High School, and was an active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Connie Holmeen of South Windsor, Conn., and Kristie Martinovich of Battle Creek, Mich.; two grandsons, a great-grandson, a stepgrandson and a stepgranddaughter; and by a sister, Naomi Butcher of Flora, Ind.
A memorial service was held on May 6 in the First United Methodist Church, Eustis. Graveside service and burial will be on Sunday, June 27, at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Memorial contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
