SOUTH BEND - John A. Orzech, 85, of Parker Drive, died at 3 a.m. Saturday in his home. Mr. Orzech retired in 1971 from Interstate Bakeries Inc. as a division manager after 29 years of service, and also retired in 1987 from Buschbaum Pharmacy after 13 years. He was born Jan. 30, 1909, in Michigan City, moving to this area in 1941 from Michigan City.

On Feb. 9, 1932, in Michigan City, he married Elnor Rist. She survives with two daughters, Nancy Bothast of South Bend, and Mary Lash of Granger; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Beaver of Westville; and two brothers, Al and Walter, both of Michigan City.

He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to National Down Syndrome Congress or to American Cancer Society.
