Brother Henry (Charles) O’Rourke CSC, 91, of Dujarie House, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. He was born June 1, 1894 in Cleveland. There are no known survivors. He entered the Holy Cross Aug. 15, 1908; received his habit July 6, 1912; made his first vows July 6, 1914; and professed his final vows June 26, 1920. He completed his formal education at Dujarie Institute in 1916. From 1916 to 1919 he taught at Holy Cross High School, New Orleans; from 1919 to 1920 and again from 1936 to 1946, and from 1947 to 1962, he was a clerk at Ave Maria Press; from 1920 to 1936 he was a postal clerk at the Notre Dame Post Office; from 1946 to 1947 he was a clerk at St. Edward’s University, Austin, Texas; from 1962 to 1977 he was in-residence with the Holy Cross Brothers Community at Holy Cross High School in New Orleans; and from 1977 until his death he was an in-residence patient at Dujarie House. In November 1984 he returned to the Holy Cross Brothers residence in New Orleans to celebrate his 9oth birthday and the 70th anniversary og his religious profession. He was a member of the South-West Province of the Holy Cross Brothers.

 

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Chapel, Holy Cross Brothers Center. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, also at the Brothers Center. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Center, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m.
