Richard J. Orlowski, 72, of Woodhurst Road, Granger, Ind., died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in Hospice House. Richard was born Nov. 19, 1929, to the late George and Catherine (Wielgos) Orlowski in South Bend, Ind. On July 26, 1955, he married Helen, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Victoria Przestowor; and by two brothers, Frank and John Orlowski. He is survived by a son, Gary Richard Orlowski of Granger; three grandchildren, Angela (Roy) Dowdy of South Bend, Amy Gatchell of South Bend and Andrea Orlowski of Granger; a great-grandson, Austin Dowdy; and by a sister, Evelyn Janowiak of South Bend. Richard served in the United States Air Force, and retired from Wheel Horse as a maintenance worker. He was a member of Holy Family Church, VFW 9820, PNA, and American Legion Post 284.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 14, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 Mayflower Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery.
