Gladys LaVon Oglesby, 91, of 208 N.
Jefferson Street, North Liberty, Ind., passed away after an
extended illness at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, in her residence.
She was a retired teacher, having taught at North Liberty,
Swanson and Maple Lane schools for 35 years. She was born April
7, 1910, in North Liberty, and was a lifetime resident.
She was married in Plymouth, Ind., to Harry
E. Oglesby on June 17, 1944. He passed away Dec. 30, 1990. She is
survived by four nieces, Mary Ann (Robert) Burbick, Janice
Wilson, Carolyn (Skip) Vinson and Sandy (Doug) Garrard;
a nephew, Roger (Donna) Burkholder; several great- and
great-great-nieces and nephews; two cousins, Margaret Heim
and Bill Gonser; and by her loving caregivers, Evelyn
Runyan, Michelle Connell, and Marilyn Lewis, Karen Morris, Tammy
Lewis, Denise Hruska and Shirley Forsythe. Mrs. Oglesby was the
longest-living member of the North Liberty United Methodist
Church. She was also a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers
Association.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March
30, in the church, officiated by Fred Stayton, pastor. Burial
will be at Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Friday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty. Memorial
donations may be made to Southern Care, Mishawaka.
