NORTH LIBERTY - Harold Devon "Hack" O'Connor, a
lifelong resident of North Liberty, passed away at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 2, 2010, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was 79 years old. He was born August 21, 1930, in North
Liberty, a son of Zell and Helen (Finch) O'Connor, and remained a
lifelong resident. Harold worked for many years as a meat
cutter-butcher for Wilcox's Supermarket, and taught many people
how to cut meat throughout the years. He retired from John Glenn
School Corp. where he worked as a custodian at North Liberty
Elementary School. On January 12, 1952, in South Bend, Harold was
united in marriage to Georgia Elaine Eichorst. They enjoyed 53
years of marriage until her passing on September 21, 2005. He was
also preceded in death by two daughters, Connie Sue O'Connor on
October 18, 1953, and Deborah Clark, September 17, 1994, along
with a sister, Enid Beaudoin, and four brothers, Lawrence,
Lester, Donald and William O'Connor. Harold is survived by a
daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Dolph of Walkerton; three sons, Ronald
(Carol) O'Connor of Las Cruces, NM, Jack (Linda) O'Connor of
North Liberty and Larry (Linda) O'Connor of Sharon Spirit, KS;
and eight grandchildren, Ryan O'Connor, Heather Wills, Karyl
(Gonzalo) Ruiz, Jeffrey Clark, Lindsay (Scott) Namestnik,
Jonathon Dolph, Kyle O'Connor and Tyler O'Connor. In addition,
four sisters, Doris (Dennis) Groves, Dorothy Arnett, Norma
Solmos, all of North Liberty, and Judy (Michael) Granning of Fort
Wayne, and a brother, Dale "Verland" O'Connor of South
Bend, all survive him as well. Harold proudly served his country
in the United States Army. He was a 50-year member of American
Legion Post 365 in North Liberty. He was an avid fisherman, and
always enjoyed having family and friends at his home for a fish
fry. He was a lifelong Cub's fan, and enjoyed bowling for many
years. He loved watching "The Price is Right,"
"Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy." Services
will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, in the Palmer Funeral
Home-Lakeville, 314 South Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Rev.
Vicky Blough, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Graveside services with military honors will follow at Westlawn
Cemetery, North Liberty. The family will receive friends from
4:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, and one hour prior to services Wednesday
in the Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville. Expressions of sympathy on
