Gladys O'Connor
October 9, 1912 - July 22, 1996
Gladys O'Connor, 83, residing at
Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind., formerly of South Bend, North
Liberty, and Brandenton, Fla., passed away at 10:25 p.m. on
Monday, July 22, at the nursing home.
Mrs. O'Connor was employed in
education as a first grade school teacher and later as an
elementary counselor for the Mishawaka School System for 27
years.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1912 in Montpelier,
Ohio, to the late Carey and Irma (Benjamin) Treesh.
On Nov. 26, 1930, in South Bend,
she married Russell O'Connor who survives, with two daughters,
Karen Knight of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Linda Vaszari of Spring
Grove, Ill.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and
one brother, Harold Treesh of Niles, Mich. One son, Patrick
O'Connor preceded his parents in death in 1950.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m. on Friday, July 26, at the North Liberty Church of Christ
with the Rev. Charles Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in
Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 5 to 8
p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Palmer Funeral Home in Lakeville,
Ind., and also one hour prior to services in the church on
Friday.
Mrs. O'Connor was a former member
of the Harris Prairie Church of Christ, River Park Church of
Christ, and the North Liberty Church of Christ. She was a member
of the West Side Christian Church in Bradenton, Fla., Mishawaka
Education Association, Indiana State Teachers Association and
National Education Association. She was a graduate of Goshen College
and received her Master's Degree from the Indiana University in Bloomington,
Ind. Mrs. O'Connor was also a member of the Order of the Eastern
Star in North Liberty.
