MISHAWAKA - Melvin O'Bryan, 80, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, in his home. Melvin was born on December 8, 1926, in St. Francis, Kentucky.

On January 13, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Melvin married Pauline (Miles). Preceding Melvin in death were his wife in 1997; a daughter, Christine O'Bryan; and a brother, Paul O'Bryan. Surviving Melvin are his daughter, Nancy (Tom) Hojnacki of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Mike (Terri) O'Bryan of Mishawaka, Richard (Candace) of Indianapolis, Joe (Jane) of Granger and John of Tampa, FL; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Barbara) O'Bryan of Anaheim, California. Melvin worked at Wheel Horse/Toro before retiring in 1992.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 9, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
