SOUTH BEND - John W. O'Brien, 71, of
Clermont Drive and Birch Lake, Vandalia, died at 7 p.m. EST
Friday in Three Rivers Hospital. Mr. O'Brien was co-founder of
Anchor Realty, which is now Coldwell Banker Anchor Real Estate.
He was born Aug. 6, 1923, in South Bend, and was a lifelong
resident.
On July 20, 1946, in South Bend, he married
Nancy Henderson. She survives with three daughters,
Kathleen Rochette of Phoenix, Anne Abernethy of
South Bend and Patricia Cotter of Great Falls, Mont.; two
sons, John J. of South Bend and Major of San Francisco; eight
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia
O'Brien Manion of South Bend. He was a graduate of the
University of Notre Dame. He was former vice president and board
member of St. Joseph Bank and Trust, which is now Society Bank, a
former board member of Camp Eberhart and a board member of South
Bend-Mishawaka Board of Realtors. He was an Army veteran of World
War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Eberhart, 10300 Corey Drive, Three Rivers, MI 49093.
