Robert Oakley, 92, of Beech Road, Osceola, Ind., passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind. Robert was born on Feb. 14, 1905, in Carroll County, Ind.
Robert retired from the Mishawaka Farmers Dairy in 1964, and also retired from the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.
On May 9, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., Robert married Isabelle L. Ward, who preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 1990. He is survived by five daughters, Ada Coddens of Mishawaka, Ind., Donna Moran, Dorothy LaVine and Mildred Deak, all of Osceola, and Helen McIntyre of Bremen, Ind; a son, Richard R. Oakley of Bremen; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Hilderbrand and Gladys Rakestraw, both of Michigan; and by two brothers, Floyd Oakley of Osceola and Forrest Oakley of California.
Robert was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church, the Pleasant Valley Men's Club and the Osceola Historical Society.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in the Osceola Cemetery, Osceola. Memorials may be made to the Osceola United Methodist Church or to the Osceola Historical Society.
