Dorothy Marie Oak

Dorothy Marie Oak, 79, of Rockne Drive, South Bend, Ind., died following a lengthy illness at 1 a.m. Friday, March 21, in her residence. Mrs. Oak was born June 15, 1923, in L'Anse, Mich., and had lived in South Bend since 1942, coming from Cheboygan, Mich.

On April 25, 1942, in South Bend, as Dorothy M. St. Germain, she married Alex A. Oak, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Janice M. (Robert) Bright of South Bend; a son, Alex D. (Sharon) Oak of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, Adam D. Oak, Sarah M. Bright and Megan E. Bright; and by a brother, William St. Germain of Michigan. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Dorothy loved her family and her home, and nothing gave her more pleasure than to work in her yard and be with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 24, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Edgar D. Erskin of Northway Church of Christ officiating. Cremation will follow at Michiana Crematory. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services Monday in the funeral home.
