SOUTH BEND - Matthew J. Nyers, 24, of West Ewing Street, died at 10:25 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Nyers was born June 23, 1969, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Surviving are his parents, Alex G. and Irma E. Antal Nyers of South Bend; three sisters, Mary Nyikos and Rose Burns, both of South Bend, and Margaret Wolf of Columbiana, Ohio; two brothers, Richard and George, both of South Bend; and maternal grandmother, Margaret Antal of South Bend. He was a graduate of Riley High School and a member of the William Penn Association.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
