SOUTH BEND - Henrietta E. Nowinski, 101, of South Bend,
Indiana, passed away on October 24, 2007, in Hubbard Hill Estates
Retirement Community, Elkhart. She was born on May 9, 1906, in
South Bend, to the late Stanislaus and Constance (Sudrovech)
Demski and was a lifelong area resident.
On June 24, 1925, she married John B.
Nowinski, who preceded her in death on January 21, 1942. She was
also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene; daughter,
Patricia Cotterman and a sister, Dorothy Drejer.
Henrietta is survived by her daughters, Corinne (George) Patton
of South Bend and Donna (William) Niemann of Edwardsburg,
MI; her son, John B. (Mary Jane) Nowinski of South Bend, IN; a
son-in-law, Lynn Cotterman of New Mexico; 18 grandchildren; 25
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Mrs. Nowinski
graduated from the South Bend Business College in 1925 and then
owned a grocery store in South Bend, before retiring in 1955. She
worked for Rose Fuel and Material in South Bend, retiring in
1965. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church, South
Bend.
A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007, in St. Patrick
Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the Mass.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Kaniewski
Funeral Homes, South Bend, is handling the arrangements. In lieu
of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Elkhart, IN.
