Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross
Catholic church for Valentine Nowicki, 1245 Van Buren street, who
died Tuesday night. Burial with military honors will be in St.
Joseph Polish cemetery. Friends may call in the residence. Mr.
Nowicki, a veteran of World War I, was born Feb. 6, 1897, in
South Bend. He was employed by the Studebaker corporation.
Surviving are his widow, Frances; two daughters, Gloria, at home,
and Mrs. Geraldine Van de Veire, of Chicago; two sons, Valentine,
Jr., and Marvin, both at home; five brothers, John, Michael, Leo,
Edmund and Charles, all of South Bend, and five sisters, Mrs.
Blanche Odor, Mrs. Jane Klimek, Mrs. Marie Vanderhagan, Mrs.
Sophie Cherpes and Mrs. Josephine Varga, all of South Bend. He
was a member of Lottie A. Zell garrison No. 146, Army and Navy
union; Pulaski post No. 357, American legion, and White Eagle
chapter No. 9, Disabled American Veterans.
