Ed Nowicki, 83, of Sun City, Arizona, died peacefully at dawn on
November 19, 2001. He was born on July 13, 1918 in South Bend,
Indiana where he resided through high school. He graduated from
Purdue University, married his beloved Leona on Thanksgiving day
of 1941, and worked in military procurement during WW2. Until
retiring in 1980 and moving from Dayton, Ohio to Sun City where
he was an active member of the Kiwanis club, he had served as
executive vice president of the Dayton Progress Company where
during a 30 year career, he established systems and procedures
still in place today that grew the company into a dominant tool
and die manufacturer employing hundreds in the Dayton area. He
also administered employee training programs and a significant
employee suggestion monetary reward program. Preceded in death by
his wife Leona Zander Nowicki, he is survived by sister Loretta
Deranek in Minnesota, brother Robert Nowicki in Indiana, son
Bruce Nowicki in Ohio, son Lyle Nowicki in Ohio, daughter Di Ann
Cannon-Watson in Phoenix, son Jim Nowicki in Indiana, grand
children Carrie Nowicki Scheider, Ben Nowicki, Charles Nowicki,
Megan Nowicki, Christine Nowicki Vargas, Ted Nowicki, Joel
Nowicki, Beth Nowicki Schneider, Jeremy Cannon, Ashlee Cannon,
Katie Nowicki, David Nowicki, Ryan Nowicki, Keith Nowicki, Nathan
Nowicki, Laura Nowicki, and great grandchildren Hunter Vargas and
Giria Vargas. His dedication, wit, energy and caring will be
missed by all. Memorial arrangements are pending.
