Matthew J. Nowak

September 18, 1915 - December 28, 1975

Matthew J. Nowak, 60, of 6118 Oldham, died at 4:20am Sunday in St Joseph's Hospital after a week's illness.  Nowak was president of the Midwest Engineering Co. Inc for 23 years.

Born September 18, 1915 in South Bend, he had lived here his lifetime.  On April 26, 1941, he married Clara Zakrzewski, who survives.  Also surviving are four sons, David of Austin TX, Paul J. of Minot ND, Robert E. of Pittsburgh PA and Thomas M. at home and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11am Tuesday in the St Jude Catholic Church.  Rev Edward A. Narcowich, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9pm today in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a Parish wake service will be at 7:30pm today.  A rosary will be recited at 7pm today in the funeral home by members of the Santa Maria Council 553, Knights of Columbus, of which Nowak was a member.  He also was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Elks Lodge 235 and the board of directors of the Sobieski Federal Savings & Loan Association.
