GRANGER - Mary B. Nowak, 88, of Granger, passed away on
Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Medical
Center in Mishawaka. Mary was born on December 18, 1921 in
Mishawaka, IN., to the late Steven and Barbara Malecki. As the
former Mary Koblick, she married John L. Nowak on September 12,
1946 in South Bend. Mary and John shared fifty- nine wonderful
years of marriage together. John Nowak passed away on August 9,
2005. Survivors include a daughter Marilyn (Lou) Rhoades of
Granger, two grandsons, Brian and David Rhoades of Granger. One
brother and two sisters precede Mary in death. Mary was a loving
and caring wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family
most of all. She enjoyed gardening when she was younger. She
loved to cook for her family; especially during the holidays she
would bake all the ethnic polish baked goods, her son-in-law Lou,
who was known to request homemade pies at which Mary would always
accommodate his request with a smile on her face. Mary was a
member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 2, 2010, with
one-hour visitation prior at St. Pius X Catholic Church with
Monsignor Bill Schooler officiating. Burial is to follow the
service at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. The
family requested no flowers. Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main
St., assisted the family with the arrangements.
