SOUTH BEND - John C. Nowak, 85, of
Hartzer Street, died after an illness at 9 p.m. Saturday in St.
Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Nowak retired from Allied Products
and had been an employee of Studebaker Corp.
He was born May 14, 1911, in South Bend. His
first wife, Henrietta Paege, died Feb. 27, 1966. His
second wife, Catherine Farmer, died Nov. 2, 1983. He is
survived by a sister, Violet Opaczewski of South Bend; and a
brother, Stanley of South Bend. He was a member of Golden Cluster
and Holy Name Society, both of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Legion
of Honor of Z.B. Falcons and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3194.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St.
Hedwig Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery,
where VFW Post 3194 will conduct services. Friends may call from
2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, where a combined rosary will be said at 4 p.m. by the
parish and Golden Cluster, followed by a Legion of Honor ritual.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
