Edward Nowak

Edward Nowak, 78, of Canterbury,
South Bend, Ind. died Saturday, August 17, 2002, 8:27 a.m., at
his residence. Edward was born February 20, 1924 to the late
Stanley and Hattie (Duszynski) Nowak in South Bend, IN. He
was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Nowak Jr. He is
survived by a son, David E. (Mary Lou) Nowak of Mi.; a daughter,
Marcia A. (Tony) Reinders of Calif.; a son, Larry A.
(Nora) Nowak of Mich., and daughter Lisa Marie (Jim) Batty
of Calif.; and a sister, Adeline (Stephen) Marozsan.
Edward is also survived by his constant companion of 26 years,
Karen Scott, and her four children, Dianna Scott of South
Bend, Michael Scott of South Bend and his son, Christopher,
Christopher (Dawn) Scott of Kenosha, Wis., and their children
Cassie and Zachary, Bethany (Ray) Staub of South Bend and
their daughter Madisyn.
Edward retired from the Scot Mar Lumber
after years as Manager. He was a member of the Sacred Heart
Parish of Notre Dame, In. He served in WWII in Papua New Guinea,
as an Aerial Gunner with the Jolly Rogers 5th Air Force, having
flown 52 missions. He received an Air Medal with one oak leaf
cluster, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

August 20, 2002 from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at
the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend,
In. There will also be a wake service at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Services will be on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the
St. Joseph Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial mass will be held on
August 29 at 10 a.m., in Cript Chapel of the Basilica of Sacred
Heart.
