SOUTH BEND - Mr. Richard Stanley Norris, 82, of South
Bend, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday in his residence. He was
born here in South Bend on August 8, 1926. He served 22 years in
the United States Army, retiring as a sergeant first class. He
then went to work for the United States Postal Service and
retired from there after 20 years of service. While he was in the
service he met and married Eveline (Steglich) Norris on
Sept. 29, 1962, in Kaiserlauten, Germany. She survives of South
Bend. Besides his wife four children also survive, Richard
(Deborah) Norris of Greenwood, IN, James (Jane) Norris of
Buchanan, MI, Natalie (Matthew) Konkol of South Bend and
Kenneth (Dodie) Norris of Elkhart, IN; and a sister, Lorraine Williams
of Denver, CO. Seven grandchildren also survive, Trever, Jessica,
James, Matthew, Cassandra, Riley and Nolan.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road at Ironwood. Following the visitation there will be a procession to Riverview Cemetery where there will be a graveside Catholic committal service and military honor services at 1:00 p.m.
