Raymond E. Norris, 83, of South Bend,
passed away at 1 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Holy Cross
Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 20, 1921,
in Chicago, Illinois, to Constantine and Stella (Adamowich)
Naruszewicz, who preceded him in death along with
brothers, Albert Norris, John Norosz and Peter Norris; and
sister, Sophie Norris.
On October 1, 1949, in Michigan City,
Raymond married Eleanor C. Oszust. Surviving Raymond is
his wife, Eleanor; daughters, Diane E. Pontius of
Lafayette, Indiana, Marianne Norris of Los Angeles, California,
and Nancy White of Mishawaka; grandchild, Jessica White of
San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Jean Reid of Grand Junction,
Colorado, and Lorraine Williams of Denver, Colorado;
brothers, Edward (Rose) Norris of Lakewood, California, and
Richard (Evy) Norris of South Bend. Raymond was an electrician
and a member of IBEW Local 153 for 34 years. He honorably served
in the U.S. Navy from September 1942 and was discharged on the
point system in 1945, receiving the World War II Victory Ribbon.
Raymond was a devoted Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. He was a
baseball card collector and a stamp collector.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 15,
2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S.
Mayflower Road, with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. in the
funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery,
South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Heart Association.
