Aug. 16, 1908 - Jan. 10, 2002

Marie Norris, 93, of Walkerton, Ind., formerly of South Bend, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2002, in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Norris was born August 16, 1908, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Casimir and Antonia (Lutzka) Gornik and lived in the Michiana area most of her life. On September 22, 1928, as Marie Gornik she married Forrest G. Norris who died October 8, 1971. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris M. Drueker and Kathleen Norris; and one grandson, David Gustafson.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. (Jack) Wolf of South Bend and Donna (Richard) Haigh of Buchanan, Mich.; one son, Michael J. (Barbara) Norris of South Bend; four grandchildren, Andrew L. and Bruce A. Gustafson, both of South Bend, Mark Resil of South Bend and Debra (Vincent) Wellman of Mishawaka; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mae Gaska of South Bend an Julia "Judy" Games of Elkhart.

Mrs. Norris retried as a cashier from Sears & Roebuck in 1973 after 22 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 14, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend, with Rev. Larry Baker of First Brethren Church of South Bend officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 13 in the funeral home.
