SOUTH BEND - Eleanor C. Norris, 92, passed away at noon on
Monday, April 28, in Regency Place. Eleanor was born on May 18,
1915, to the late John and Josephine (Ryczek) Oszust.
On October 1, 1949, in Michigan City,
Eleanor married Raymond Norris, who passed away on March 12,
2005. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Stan
Oszust, Ted Oszust and Eddie Oszust, and a sister, Irene Zeithammer.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Pontius of
Evanston, IL, Marianne Norris of Los Angeles, CA, and Nancy White
of Mishawaka; granddaughter, Jessica (Matt) Metzger of San
Antonio, TX; and a sister, Virginia Jasinski of South
Bend. Eleanor was a parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church. As
a faithful parishioner of over 50 years, she was dedicated and
loyal in her lifelong commitment to the Catholic Church and
developed long-lasting friendships with fellow parishioners. She
was devoted to her daughters and granddaughter, and she was a
wonderful grandma. She loved her pet shelties, enjoyed gardening
and working in her yard, loved movies and music, and maintained
the traditional values of family and home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
April 30, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, in Holy Cross
Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South
Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic
Church.
