Harvey E. Nixon, 76, of Bittersweet Road,
Mishawaka, passed away at 1:53 p.m. Wednesday at Valley View
Health Care, Elkhart, Ind. Harvey was born in Mishawaka on June
5, 1926. He was a retired truck driver with the Teamsters Union,
retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Ham Radio Club.
Harvey married Reatha Hazelip, in South Bend
in 1974. She survives, along with four daughters, Jacqueline
Curtis, of Mishawka, Cathy Trewhella of Granger, Cindy Rice of
Mishawka, Suzanne Frick of San Francisco, Calif.; twelve
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Carl
Kaser of North Liberty, Dean Kaser of South bend; two
stepdaughters, Juanita Fisher of North Liberty and Theda Nixon of
South Bend; twenty three step-grandchildren; six
step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers,
Robert Nixon, of South bend, Donald Nixon of Mishawaka, Carl
Nixon of Plymouth, Larry Nixon of LaPorte; four sisters, Gloria
Taylor, Marilyn Figg, both of South Bend, Esther Keb of Anthony,
Fla., and Juanita Cummings of Knox, Ind. Harvey was preceded in
death by his parents, Harvey and Gertrude (McCarter) Nixon; and a
brother, Roy Nixon.
Services were at 1 p.m. Friday in the Bubb
Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., where
friends called two hours before services. Burial was in Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to express a very
special thanks to the people at Valley View, for the super care
given to Harvey Nixon. Memorials may be made to American Heart
Association.
