MISHAWAKA - Earl D. Nifong, 82, of North
Mason Street, died at 11:27 p.m. Friday in his home of natural
causes. Mr. Nifong retired in 1978 from Wheelabrator-Frye Corp.
after 23 years of service. He was born Jan. 14, 1913, in
Mishawaka.
On Dec. 25, 1931, in Mishawaka, he married
Bessie Mae Palmer. She died June 25, 1982. On Sept. 3, 1983, in
South Bend, he married Helen Sharp. She survives with four
daughters, Lois Sailor of Bristol, Delores J. Cheh of South Bend,
Sue Daugherty of Stockton, Calif., and Gloria Jean Sabo of Rising
Sun, Ind.; two stepsons, David J. Sharp of Bitely, Mich., and
Joseph U. Sharp of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; a sister, Joy Blough of Bristol; and four
brothers, Russell and Floyd, both of Elkhart, Ralph of Atlanta
and Walter of Garland, Texas. He was a member of Apostolic
Temple, South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the
temple. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in
Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., and one hour before
services Monday in the temple. Memorial contributions may be made
to the temple, Hospice of St. Joseph County or American Cancer
Society.
