2, 1934 - April 6, 2010SOUTH BEND Jon L. Nieter, 76, residing in South Bend, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his home. He was born January 2, 1934 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Melvin A. & Eva (Sword) Nieter, and has lived in South Bend all of his life. On November 3, 1962 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Lucille "Lucy" Johnson who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Nancy K. (Mark) Whittaker of Lakeville, IN, a son, Thomas A. (Lori) Nieter of South Bend, and four grandchildren, Amy & Katy Whittaker, and Shelly & Michael Nieter. Jon was preceded in death by two sisters, Carroll Gould and Rosemary Davis. Mr. Nieter worked in the auto parts business for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of Edwardsburg Conservation Club in Edwardsburg, MI. Memorial services will be at Noon, Saturday, April 10, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
