July 29, 1919 – Feb. 26, 2004 Gertrude Martha Niespodiany, 84, of Fountain View Nursing Home passed away at 1:30 a.m. Feb. 26 in Memorial Hospital, in South Bend, Ind., of natural causes. Gert was born July 29, 1919, in South Bend to Stanley and Mary (Kowaleski) Lisek. On June 1, 1946, in Terre Coupe, Ind., she married Clement Joseph Niespodiany. Gert was preceded in death by her husband on March 26, 1962; her parents; brother, Edward Lisek; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Groth. Surviving are her daughters, Audrey Groth of Granger, Ind., and Fran (Dale) Gerbasich of Granger; her brother, Andrew (Ruby) Lisek of New Carlisle, Ind., and five grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Brandon Groth, and Kristopher and Kelly Gerbasich. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. today, Feb. 28, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, with viewing two hours prior. Services will be conducted by Father Schooler from St. Pius Catholic Church. Interment will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Gert was a secretary and bookkeeper. She retired in 1983. She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in South Bend. Gert was loved by all and her genuine smile will be remembered by all those who knew her.
