SOUTH BEND - Eugene R. Niedbalski Sr., 72, of Alan Road, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Care Center-West. Mr. Niedbalski retired from Yellow Transit as a truck driver. He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 30, 1943, in South Bend, he married Adeline Pietraszewski. She died July 1, 1989. He is survived by three daughters, Sharon York, Geri Kroll and Kathy Marshall, all of South Bend; a son, Eugene ''TyKey'' Jr. of Walkerton; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
