SOUTH BEND - Frank J. Niedbala, 83, of West Grace Street, died at 7:32 a.m. Monday in his home after an illness. Mr. Niedbala retired in 1978 from Allied Products after 15 years of service as a forklift driver.

He was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Lackawana, N.Y., and lived in South Bend most of his life. On Sept. 4, 1939, in South Bend, he married Irene L. Sieradzki. She survives with a daughter, Patricia Meller of South Bend; a son, Raymond F. of Granger; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Sophie Mathes of Chicago; and two brothers, Casimer of South Bend and Henry of Mishawaka. He was a member of the Senior Citizens of St. Casimir's Catholic Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where Senior Citizens will say a rosary at 2:30 p.m., followed by a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
