SOUTH BEND - John P. Nicodemus, 80, formerly
of South Kendall Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:15
a.m. on Thursday, March 5, in the Healthwin Hospital. Mr.
Nicodemus retired from South Bend Lathe where he was employed for
35 years. He was born on Dec. 16, 1917, in Peru, Ind., and had
lived in this area for most of his life. He was a member of
Bowlers Country Club.
On June 30, 1984, in South Bend, he married
Ruth E. Vascil, who survives. He is also survived by three
daughters, Kathleen (Kenneth) Gross of New Carlisle, Ind., Sharon
(Don) Gentner and Mary Ann (Paul) Shanley of Granger, Ind.; a
son, Christopher Nicodemus of New Carlisle; eight grandchildren,
Margaret Rose, Jason Ashley, Joshua Evans, William Conard, Hannah
Gross, Amanda Gross, Joshua Gentner and Noah Gentner; three
great-grandchildren, Sarah Rose, Grace Rose and Michael Rose; and
by four brothers, Lloyd Nicodemus of Mishawaka, Ind., Paul
Nicodemus of Arizona, Glenn Nicodemus of Elkhart, Ind., and Earl
Nicodemus.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on
Saturday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue.
Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call
from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
