SOUTH BEND - Bobbie G. Nicks, 78, of South Bend, passed away on
Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 2:17 p.m. in St. Joseph's
Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Nicks was
born October 26, 1931, in Manila, Arkansas, to the late Norman
Watson and Myrtle L. (Woodall) Watson. On December 2, 1961, in
South Bend, Bobbie married the former Allen R. Nicks, who
preceded her in death on April 24, 1998. Bobbie leaves behind
three sons, Robert A. (Denise) Nicks of Osceola, IN, Wayne J.
Nicks of Florida and Ricky J. Bonds of Coloma, MI. She also
leaves behind two sisters, Norma Watson of South Bend, IN, and
Carolyn (Alvin) Werner of South Haven, FL; as well as a brother,
Billy (Carol) Watson of South Bend, IN; along with many nieces
and nephews. Mrs. Nicks was an amazing grandmother to nine
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she loved and
cherished. She retired from St. Mary's Convent, working as a
nurse's aide for the Sisters of the Holy Cross. As well as loving
her family, Bobbie enjoyed playing bingo, cooking for all, and
dancing. "They say that the Secret to Eternal Life is the
legacy you leave behind, then Bobbie Gean Nicks will live
forever." Visitation will take place in the Hanley &
Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West
Ireland Road / SR #23, South Bend, from 10-11 a.m. on Monday,
January 25, 2010. A memorial service will take place in the
funeral home on Monday, January 25, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Rev.
Rick Callagan officiating. Cremation has taken place, which she
requested and was honored by her loving family. Please make all
memorial contributions to The Center for Hospice and Palliative
Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The
HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled
arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and
heartfelt prayers to the Nicks family.
